Medicare supplement plans are changing effective 6/1/2010. We are constantly being asked…What are the new changes? and How do they affect my current plan? To answer the first question…Plans E, H, I, and J will no longer be available after June 1st. Plans D and G will still be offered but they are being restructured. Plans D and G will no longer have the “at home recovery” benefit. Plan G will increase the “part B excess” benefit from 80% to 100%. There are two plans being added to the list of options and they are plans N and M. Now, to answer the second question…anyone with the current Medicare supplement plans are “grandfathered in” and are able to keep the plan they have. They are not being forced to change and the benefits will stay exactly as they have always been. If they decide to change their coverage after June 1st, then they will be under the new versions.
